I was so impatient to come into this world that I was born premature, two months before the expected time - on 1st January 1953. I was born in Armenia.

Now I am no longer in a hurry. I am gradually enhancing my knowledge of the world and deepening into painting in all its diversity; moreover, it happens despite the fact that I am a graduate of the Jewellers and Art Schools in Yerevan.

Then I happened to have my training in Riga, and I decided to continue my education at the Latvian Academy of Art. For seven years my teacher was Professor Indulis Zarins, and in 1996 I completed my studies at the Department of Monumental Painting. So I remained in Riga.


My paintings, quite naturally, have their roots not only in the ancient Armenian culture but also in the Latvian and European art traditions. I would like to add that painter's genes have been passed from my ancestors: both my father and grandfather served to the Art: they forged metal, composed and played music, painted.

My paintings can be found in private collections, museums and galleries in USA, UK, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, France, Spain, Germany, Lithuania, Armenia, Israel, Japan etc.

At the moment, I work in various genres: monumental and portrait painting, landscapes, still life, design.

My recent paintings are reproduced in two books of Latvian poet’s:
in reciter of Maris Chaklais (2000) and in album by poetess Dita Klavina (2001).
